All India Conference of Linguistics and Folklore on September 3
ALIGARH : The Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University is hosting the 10th All India Conference of Linguistics and Folklore on “Translation Across Cultures in Multilingual India with regard to NEP-2020” on September 3 to reflect on how the National Education Policy (NEP) has brought renewed focus and energy to the field of translation and cultural studies.
Prof. M.J. Warsi, Chairman of the department and the Director of the Conference said that the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 marks a significant change in India’s educational values, acknowledging the crucial need of translation in its diverse language environment.
AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Naima Khatoon will preside over the inaugural function, while Shri S K Barnwal, Additional Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India and Shri Vipin Kumar, Additional Secretary, School Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India are the guest speakers. Smt. Neeta Sharma, Joint Secretary (Languages), Ministry of Education, Government of India will be the chief guest in the valedictory session.
The keynote address will be delivered by the eminent scholar Prof. Harish Narag, JNU, whereas prominent linguists and experts who will deliver talk include Prof. R C Sharma (University of Delhi), Prof. Abhinav K Mishra (BHU), Prof. G K Panikkar (ISDL, Thiruvanathapuram), Prof. Aejaz Mohd. Sheikh (KU), Prof. Bhupinder Singh Khaira, (Patiala), Prof. Pradeep K Das (JNU), Prof. Rana Nayar, (PU), Prof. S K Jha and Prof. Shantanu Ghosh (Amity University).
