All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) offer 5000 internship opportunities with a stipend to civil engineering students

New Delhi: AICTE and NHAI has launched the ‘Online Internship’ program for Civil Engineering Students . The unique internship program has been launched in the presence of several eminent personalities, including AICTE Chairman Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Vice-Chairman Professor MP Poonia, Shri Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, Chairman, NHAI, Chief Coordinating Officer, Shri Chandrasekhar Buddha.

Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE, said a mechanism of internship in medical education for hands-on practice for a long time. Now, AICTE has made internships mandatory for engineering students.

AICTE Vice Chairman Professor MP Poonia said that students carrying out an internship in NHAI would get opportunities to work on real-time problems. Also conveyed, that as per National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, every students should have industry exposure in their domain. AICTE Internship Program creates a platform for the students for the same.

 

Dr.Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, Chairman, NHAI, highlighted the importance of internship and hands-on learning,and academic knowledge. Also,Chairman, NHAI, said that Students should undergo this internship extensively with commitment and provide feedback to NHAI. NHAI will provideinternship opportunities for 5000 students in the first Phase with Rs.10,000 as a stipend for two months. Based on the first phase experience, NHAI is ready to increase the number of internships for the benefit of the student community.

 

Shri Buddha Chandrasekhar, Chief Coordinating officer demonstrated the AICTE internship portal and shows the functionality and facilities of the portal. Also conveyed, these internship opportunities enrich the youth employability opportunities through ‘learning by doing’ also it will enhance the credentials for graduates.
