All India open selection trials for admission of budding players into Army’s Boys Sports Company from Feb 22
Chandigarh: Aiming to win the Olympic medal for India, the Boys Sports Company, Madras Engineer Group & Centre Banglore-42 will be conducting an all Indian open selection rally to select candidates for induction into Boys Sports Company (MEG & Centre) from February 22 to 25, 2021.
An official spokesperson further said that trials in Hockey, Boxing, Swimming and Sailing disciplines will be conducted at KV Ground, MEG & Centre, Bangalore-42. He said that the age limit should be between 8-14 years as on 21 Feb 2021 with minimum 4th standard pass with adequate knowledge of English and Hindi. He said that 8 years old budding player should be of 134 cms height and 29 Kgs weight, 9 yrs of 139 cms and 31 Kgs, 10 yrs of 143 cms and 34 Kgs, 11 yrs of 150 cms and 37 Kgs, 12 yrs of 153 cms and 40 Kgs, 13 yrs of 155 cms and 42 Kgs, while 14 yrs old player should be of 160 cms height having 47 Kgs weight. Candidates will go through an IQ test after clearing the skill test and SMC.
He added that original copy of birth certificate, caste certificate, education certificate, character certificate, residential/domicile certificate, sports participation certificate in district level and above (if any) and Aadhar Card along with six latest colour photos (one joint with grandparents and one joint with parents) must be in the possession of candidates at the time of selection trials.
The spokesperson further said that candidates having permanent tattoos on any part of the body will not be permitted for induction into Boys Sports Company (BSC). Interested candidates are requested to report to Presiding Officer, Selection Trials, Madras Engineer Group & Centre at KV Ground at 9:00 am on February 22, 2021 and Officer Commanding, BSC MEG & Centre, Bangalore-42 will be contacted on 080-25573987 for further details.
He said that medical fitness will be ascertained by the Medical Officer of MEG & Centre and specialist of AMC. The selection will remain provisional until approved by Army Headquarters/Sports Authority of India. Candidates selected in prescribed sports discipline in this Boys Sports Company may be shifted to any other Boys Sports Company for pursuing the same discipline on organizational interest.
He said that selected candidates will be provided academic training from 7th to 10th standard free of cost in English medium in Boys Sports Company (MEG & Centre). Besides, intensive coaching in Boxing, Hockey, Swimming and Sailing will also be provided by coaches of Sports Authority of India/Army. On passing 10th standard exam, the candidates will be put through a selection process as applicable for enrolment into the Army. On completion of 10th standard and on attaining the age of 17 yrs and 6 months, it is mandatory for the sports cadets to undergo the selection process for enrolment into Army and get enrolled into Madras Engineer Group. In case of failure to be enrolled into the Army for any reason, parents of affected boys are liable to reimburse the cost of expenditure incurred by the government on such boys.
