On April 28, 2023, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal, Durga Bahadur Subedi, made a courtesy call to the Kasumi Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and engaged in discussion with HU President Mitsuo Ochi. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President in charge of Global Initiatives, Shinji Kaneko, Professor Keshav Lall Maharjan of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Lecturer Amatya Vishwa Jeet of the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the possibility of educational collaboration, cooperation and mutual visits between HU and the Nepalese government and universities in Nepal, as well as students from Nepal studying at HU.

There are currently 11 students from Nepal studying at HU and three faculty members, including Professor Maharjan.
HU has continued to promote exchanges with Nepal, with President Ochi and his delegation visiting Chitwan Medical College, a partner university, and other institutions in 2016. Moreover, two doctors from Nepal trained at Hiroshima University Hospital in 2020.
Going forward, we hope to further the collaboration with universities and research institutions in Nepal.
