Amity Institute for Competitive Examinations organizes 7th International Olympiad

 

New Delhi: More than 170 Students from International Schools from 11 countries along with 19 Indian students have come together to participate in “7th Amity International Olympiad for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology” organized by Amity Institute of Competitive Examinations (AICE) at Amity University Campus, Sector- 125, Noida from May 21 to May 27, 2018.

74 students from Afghanistan, 20 from Kyrgyzstan, 3 from Kazakhstan, 5 from Indonesia, 26 from Tajikistan, 14 from Bangladesh, 2 from Sri Lanka, 1 from Russia, 20 from Turkmenistan and 2 from Turkey are participating in this year’s Olympiad.

Dr Mrs. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson of Amity International Schools, declared the Olympiad open. She gave a very warm welcome to all the students participating in the Olympiad.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Chauhan said that she is very happy to see students from all over the world coming and participating in the competition. She said that students from different parts of the country participate in this Olympiad and every year we see an increase in the number of participating nations. Amity encourages participation of students in healthy competitions between different countries as they further help in strengthening ties and such competitions are also a medium to understand each other’s culture. She also emphasized on the fact that in order to win any competition or situation in life one needs to work hard and be motivated until the target is achieved. Extending her best wishes to the participants, she further added that there might be only one winner in the competition, but every student will benefit from the learnings during the course of the Olympiad.

Ms Meenakshi Rawal, Director, AICE, shared the brief about the competition along with rules and regulations to be followed. She also extended a warm welcome to all the students who came from across the globe to participate in the Olympiad.

The students from different nations are all set to put their best foot forward in the test and are eager to showcase their talent. A 10th grade student, Sajid (Afghanistan) and said that he is excited to be a part of the chemistry Olympiad. Serder, an 11th standard student from Turkmenistan said that they are looking forward to the test as their school seniors from last year who participated in the competition said that the Amity Olympiad is a good platform to test their understanding of chemistry and biology concepts.

During the week long Olympiad, students will be trained under the able guidance and leadership of renowned faculty members and subject experts. During the first day, the students will take “Theory Exam” of respective Olympiads, followed by “Experiments” on the next day and the highest scorer will be declared as the winner of the Olympiad.

At Amity, we believe not just in honing competitive skills but also in strengthening cultural skills and therefore the students will also be taken for a trip to the famous ‘Taj Mahal’. They will also be taken for ‘Delhi Darshan’ where the students will take a tour of the National Capital and get a glimpse of the rich Indian architecture and culture.

During the week, AICE will also organize a national level mathematics workshop. About 250 students from different schools of India including Maxfort Public School Dwarka, DPS R.K. Puram, DPS Vasant Kunj, BBL Public School Bareily, St. Marry Christian School Ghaziabad, Presidium Indirapuram, and Amity International Schools Delhi-NCR will participate in the workshop.

Amity International Olympiad is conducted with the mission to foster stronger relationships amongst participating nations and to promote exchange of scientific skills and knowledge amongst the youth and creative minds across the world. It brings together students with love for Science and Mathematics and ignites scientific temperament among them. Participation in this internationally recognized and highest level of examination is considered a great achievement in itself.
