Amity Scientist develops highly active ‘Novel Protease Enzyme’, Transfers Technology to industry for further usage
The Directorate of Innovation and Technology Transfer (DITT), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, signed a Technology Transfer (TT) Agreement with M/s Balaji Advance Enzymes & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., a Maharashtra based Company, to license the highly active, ‘Novel Protease Enzyme’, developed by Dr. Nidhee Chaudhary, Professor, Amity Institute of Biotechnology and her team. Through this Agreement, the innovation will be transferred to M/s Balaji Advance Enzymes & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., which will further supply it to other industries including food and beverages industry, nutraceuticals, leather industry, meat industry, diagnostics, detergent industry, pharmaceutical industry and other industries. The company is one of the leading manufacturers of Aliphatic Amines in India, catering to the growing requirements of value-based Specialty Chemicals.
Talking about her innovation, ‘Novel Protease Enzyme’, Dr. Nidhee Chaudhary, Professor, Amity Institute of Biotechnology, said, “Proteases are a group of enzymes that break the long chain- like molecules of proteins into shorter fragments and eventually into their components, amino acids. The global protease market size was valued at $3,454.3 million in 2020 and is projected to reach $5,762.7 million by 2030. Ginger is the source of Proteases and proteases are used in food and beverages industry, nutraceuticals, leather industry, detergent industry, pharmaceutical industry and cosmetics industry, to name a few. Since the “Novel Protease Enzyme” is highly active, upto 8 times more, it will help in reduction of the cost of manufacturing products, thereby helping the common man.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abhay Kainya, Founder & Director, Balaji Advance Enzymes & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., said, “We are extremely delighted to sign the Technology Transfer Agreement with Amity University which marks the beginning of our collaboration in the field of research and innovation.
