“Amity University Mumbai Hosts Spectacular Event: Live Viewing of Chandrayaan-3’s Historic Lunar Landing!”

 

Amity’s Centre of Excellence in Astrobiology (ACOEA), part of the Amity Institute of Biotechnology at Amity University Mumbai, proudly presented a live stream of the momentous Chandrayaan-3 landing at the moon’s south pole. Held within the Amity University Mumbai Auditorium, the event welcomed esteemed guests including the Vice Chancellor, deans, and faculty members. A captivated audience of approximately 300 students joined in to witness the live transmission of the Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram Lander touchdown.

The event commenced with heartfelt well-wishes extended to ISRO by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) A. W. Santhosh Kumar. The Vice Chancellor took the opportunity to emphasize the initiation of India’s inaugural M.Sc. course in Astrobiology and Space Sciences. Dr. Penna Suprasanna, Head of Institute (AIB) and Acting Dean of Research at AUM, underscored the mission’s significance and conveyed his optimistic aspirations. Distinguished members from ACoEA delivered a succinct presentation titled “Exploring the Moon: The Chandrayaan Legacy,” delving into the progression of India’s lunar missions – Chandrayaan 1, 2, and 3.

Enthusiastic students from diverse departments shared their fervor and interest in space science, reflecting on the importance of this mission’s launch. As the Vikram Lander gently made contact with the moon’s surface, attendees collectively beheld the zero-altitude reading displayed on the screen. The auditorium erupted in applause, a resounding tribute to ISRO’s achievement and determination.
