AMU inaugurates new Dawakhana Tibbiya College, manufacturing unit

 

Aligarh: Since innumerable people got their ailments cured by herbal remedies which owe much to knowledge handed down through generations, people still look up to traditional medicines, a primary source of health care for many. It is reason that prompted the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to set up the state-of-art, new unit of Dawakhana Tibbiya College near the Law Faculty, Qila Road, Aligarh.

“It is a necessary step to modernise production and ensure quality control of the Unani medicines,” said the AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor while inaugurating the new manufacturing unit.

He added that better marketing and sales of Dawakhana products is imperative as people in western countries are stoking interest in Unani medicine and other traditional medicines to avoid the side-effects of modern medicines.

“Dawakhana Tibbiya College is a long trusted brand name and if we gain more trust with current clients and achieve better brand awareness among the target audience, more people will heal with Unani medicines all over the world,” emphasised Prof Mansoor.

Congratulating the Dawakhana employees for the new building and for the hard work in maintaining the quality of Dawakhana products, the Vice Chancellor urged them to meet the strict competition of marketplace in the best of ways.

He pointed out that the launch of the new Dawakhana building is indeed a historical day for AMU.

Prof Tajuddin (Member-in-Charge, Dawakhana Tibbiya College) said that since the establishment in 1950, the Dawakhana Tibbiya College has transformed into a center of excellence in providing the qualitative Unani Medicine as per the ideals and objectives laid down by the then Vice Chancellor and former President of India Late Dr Zakir Husain.

Prof (Hakim) Syed Zillur Rehman (Hony. Treasurer), Prof M H Beg (Pro Vice Chancellor), AMU Registrar Mr Abdul Hamid (IPS), Dr Sikandar Hayat Sidiqui (Director, Unani Services, Uttar Pradesh), Prof Saud Ali Khan (Principal, A K Tibbiya College) and Mr Arshad Munir (General Manager, Dawakhana Tibbiya College) were present on the occasion.
