TCS and Govt of Karnataka Rural IT Quiz: Government Excellence School, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh wins National Finals

Bengaluru: The Rural IT Quiz organized by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT Services, consulting & business solutions firm in partnership with the Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, witnessed a thrilling national final on November 19, 2019 at Bangalore. The team from Government Excellence School, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, won the 20th edition of the Rural IT Quiz. The event was held as part of Bengaluru Tech Summit.

Students from the States of Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh participated in the program. The Finals had an animation-based format with five segments – Byte Link, Byte Pixel, Byte Jumble, Byte Connect and Byte Waves – which tested students’ knowledge in the IT sphere, and prompted them to think laterally.

The results of the National Finals of the Rural IT Quiz are as below:

· Winners: Shivam Kumar Anjana & Jayesh Chaurasiya from Government Excellence School, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh

· Runners-up: Abhishekh Vannur & Dheeraj Angadi from The Forbes Academy, Gokak, Karnataka

The Winners received a TCS educational scholarship of Rs 1,00,000/- and the Runners-up, Rs 50,000, besides other prizes from the chief guest Dr. K. Radhakrishnan – former Chairman ISRO & Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, The Mysore Maharaja who was the guest of honor. Mr. Sunil Despande – Head -TCS Operations Bengaluru, Dr. E.V. Ramana Reddy – Additional Chief Secretary, Department of IT, BT, Science & Technology, Govt. of Karnataka & Shri Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairman of the Vision Group on Information Technology of Karnataka Government, congratulated the winners. All the finalists also received an array of prizes, in addition to the TCS cash scholarship of Rs 10,000/- they had won at the State Finals.

TCS has been organizing the Rural IT Quiz since 2000 in association with the Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, to enhance IT awareness amongst students from smaller towns and districts across six states in India, and keep them abreast with the latest developments in the world of technology. This program has reached over 15 million students till date.

Earlier, the State finals of the program was conducted in the States of Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh from August to October 2019 for students from Std 8-12.
