Amrita Hospitals to be a part of Mission Covid Suraksha by Govt. of India, with BIRAC
KOCHI – As part of the Mission Covid Suraksha project, Amrita Hospitals gets a high-end clinical trial unit to conduct Covid related vaccines & therapeutic trials. The initiative was carried out under the funding and support of the Mission Covid Suraksha project with Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), a wing of the Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.
The mission COVID Suraksha is a national initiative aimed to provide safe, efficacious, affordable and accessible COVID-19 vaccines to all citizens. On this background, the institution has developed collaboration with various national and international organizations such as WHO, ICMR, Serum Institute of India, IQVIA,to conduct COVID 19 vaccine and therapeutic clinical trials. The clinical trial will be carried out by a multidisciplinary team of experts in basic, translational, biomedical and public health domains. Recently, Amrita Hospitals have successfully participated in COVOVAX vaccine Phase III Clinical Trial in collaboration with ICMR and Serum Institute of India and was the only hospital, represented from the state of Kerala.
