Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Conducts Graduation Ceremony at Chennai Campus

Higher Education’s Role is Indispensable in Building a Developed India: Prof. T.G. Sitharam

CHENNAI: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham successfully conducted its second B.Tech graduation ceremony at the Chennai campus, where over 300 students from the 2020-2024 batch received their degrees. The event was graced by Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), as the chief guest. In his address, Prof. Sitharam stressed the essential role of higher education in making India a developed nation by 2047. He emphasized the importance of innovation, continuous learning, and skill development in keeping pace with global advancements.

“The world is moving forward at an unprecedented rate, and education must not remain untouched by technological progress,” said Prof. Sitharam. He also highlighted India’s technological strides, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, citing the shift to facial recognition for air travel as an example of how rapidly the country is evolving.

Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, shared a video message urging graduates to apply their learning for the benefit of society. “The world places its hope on students. Use the opportunities you have received to contribute to the well-being of others,” she advised.

Guest of honour Dr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President of Mahindra & Mahindra, encouraged the graduates to think about how they can practically implement the knowledge gained during their studies. Swami Ramakrishnananda Puri, Treasurer of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, delivered the benedictory address, reminding students to express gratitude to nature for supporting their growth and success.

The event was also attended by Dr. K. Sankaran, Registrar of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Dr. V. Jayakumar, Principal of the Amrita School of Engineering and Computing, Chennai campus. Medals were awarded to students who topped their respective disciplines at the campus level.
