AMU ABK High School begins Sports Week

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) ABK High School kick started its Sports Week in which the school teams are participating in various track and field events.

On the inaugural day, Red House triumphed in Tug-of-War defeating Blue House in the final, while Yellow House finished third; Green House won the Kho Kho event with Yellow House and Red House as runner ups and second runner ups; Sheeraz (Yellow House) won the 100 metres race ahead of Dinesh Kumar (Blue House) and Nitin Kumar (Green House), who finished second and third respectively and Mudassir (Green House), M Zubair (Blue House) and Nawaz (Red House) secured the first, second and third places respectively in the 200 metres race.

Speaking on the importance of sports, the Chief Guest, Prof Asfar Ali Khan, Director, Directorate of Schools Education said that participation in sports develops a sense of friendliness and team spirit among students.

The Guests of Honour, Prof Abid Ali Khan, Deputy Director, Directorate of Schools Education and Dr Anwar Shahzad, Assistant Director, Directorate of Schools Education emphasised that sports develop mental and physical toughness.

Dr M Abbas Niazi, Principal, AMU ABK High School delivered the welcome address; while Mr Parvez Habib Qureshi extended the vote of thanks.
