AMU Academic Council Meeting held

Aligarh : The Academic Council meeting of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was convened today at the University Polytechnic Auditorium. The meeting discussed 44 academic agendas related to the academic affairs of the university, including conducting entrance exams for B.Tech, Class XI, B.A.LL.B., and MBA programmes in Delhi for the upcoming academic session, increasing seats in the LLM programme, and instituting postgraduate scholarships in various departments.

Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammad Gulrez, the meeting was attended by 120 members, including the AMU Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS), Controller of Examinations, Dr. Mujeebullah Zuberi , Deans of various faculties, Chairman of Departments, Principals of Colleges, Provosts, and Directors of Centres, etc.

Decisions were made during the meeting to establish entrance centres for B.Tech, Class XI, B.A.LL.B., and MBA exams in Delhi for the convenience of students living in surrounding areas to appear for AMU entrance exams. Additionally, it was decided to increase the number of seats from 35 to 50 in the LL.M. programme conducted in the Faculty of Law.

The Academic Council also approved the provision of PG merit scholarships to students of the faculty of Agricultural Sciences and departments of Computer Engineering, Political Science, and Statistics & Operations Research.

Furthermore, the report of the admission committee was reviewed and approved after thorough deliberation. Following the approval of this report, the admission process for the academic session 2023–24 will commence soon.

Moreover, directives were given to finalise agreements and memoranda of understanding with various foreign universities and to approve the Medical Education Curriculum Guidelines of the National Medical Council.

The Academic Council meeting also endorsed the panel of experts formed by various university departments for the selection committee.
