AMU Alumna selected for the Fulbright Language Teaching Assistance
ALIGARH: Dr Areeba Shabbir, former research scholar, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been selected for the Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) programme at the Fries Center for Global Studies, Wesleyan University, Connecticut, USA for the academic session 2023-24. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she will also be representing India as Cultural Ambassador to the United States of America. The fellowship has been granted by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA), United States Department of State.
Dr Areeba Shabbir received her PhD in English Language Teaching (ELT) under the supervision of Prof Shagufta Imtiaz, Women’s College, AMU. Her primary objective is to study the social and cultural diversity of America and foster cultural ties between the US and India.
Earlier in 2022, she received an IIT Kanpur project to record lectures on English Language Teaching which were telecast on Doordarshan. Currently, she is volunteering for REsolv Education and Training Programs (RETP) which helps AMU students develop their communication skills.
Prof Mohammad Asim Siddiqui, Chairman Department of English has congratulated Dr Areeba Shabbir for her success.
