“AMU Alumni Toastmasters Club Commemorates India’s 77th Independence Day with Vigor”
The AMU Alumni Toastmasters Club recently hosted its 57th club meeting, coinciding with India’s 77th Independence Day celebrations. The event was graced by notable guests, including Division E Director Nirmala Raghurajan DTM, Area 19 Director Jawed Ahmad, Club President Dr. Ashna Nusrat, and Captain Mohammed Vasim, a retired Indian Army officer. The gathering showcased insightful speeches and thoughtful discussions centered around the theme “Celebrating Freedom”.
Club President Dr. Ashna Nusrat’s opening address elevated the event’s significance by inculcating the sense of brotherhood among Indian communities. DTM Nirmala Raghurajan inspired the audience by her humorous anecdotes and sensible talks on India’s Independence. Mr. Jawed Ahmad addressed the nation’s forthcoming challenges and the positive ways to contribute to nation’s success.
Another highlight of the event was the presence of Captain Mohammed Vasim, a retired officer from the Indian Army. Captain Vasim’s participation symbolized the sacrifices made by valiant service members for the nation’s independence. His firsthand experiences and perspectives enriched the discourse and provided a distinctive lens through which freedom was contemplated.
Vice President (Education) of the Club, Dr. Nayeem deftly handled his role as Table Topic Master during the event. His audience engaging questions were perfectly aligned with the occasion. Dr. Nayeem’s choice of subjects ensured sustained engagement, underscoring the importance of freedom and the responsibilities associated with it.
AMUAAQ President Dr Nadeem Jilani wished Happy Independence Day to all his fellow toastmasters and expressed his regret of being unable to attend this session offline as he is out of station.
Secretary of the club, Toastmaster Shafqat Nabi artfully justified the chosen theme through an inspirational address. By delving into the essence of freedom, he prompted attendees to introspect on India’s independence significance and honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Other speakers like Majid Ali, Mohammed Irfan, Mahtab Alam, Almas Ahmad, Lutfi Kakar, Abad Khan, Imaduddin and Dr. Asma Naz shared their views and lovely experiences on Independence Day celebrations.
The youngest toastmaster TM Almas was congratulated and bid goodbye as she will be leaving for her university abroad.
In essence, the event not only paid homage to a pivotal moment in India’s history but also offered a platform for dialogue and introspection in view of Independence Day.
