AMU alumnus appointed as Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard

 

Aligarh : Distinguished Computer Science professor and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) alumnus, Prof M Afshar Alam has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.

Known for contributions to teaching and research, Prof Alam has served as a member of many important committees constituted by the Government of India. He has also been associated with the Department of Computer Science, AMU in various capacities including as a member of the Board of Studies in the external member category.

“The AMU fraternity stands proud of Prof Alam’s appointment as the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard. It is a particularly a very proud moment for the faculty members, students and researchers of the Department of Computer Science, AMU,” said Prof Aasim Zafar (Chairperson, Department of Computer Science).

He extended heartiest congratulations to Prof Alam on the behalf of the Department of Computer Science, AMU.

Prof Alam worked as a lecturer for a year after his MCA in 1995. He eventually joined Jamia Hamdard in the position of lecturer and was promoted to the posts of reader and professor. He has also served as the Director, Computer Centre; Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dean, School of Engineering Sciences and Technology (SEST), DSW and Foreign Students Advisor at the Jamia Hamdard.

Prof Alam was currently serving as the Finance Officer of Jamia Hamdard.
