AMU alumnus receives Swinburne University Award
Aligarh: Melbourne, Australia based Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) alumnus, Professor Syed H Masood has been bestowed with the Vice Chancellor’s Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished and enduring contributions to research, teaching and services at the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne.
Prof Masood is the PG (Advanced Manufacturing) Course Coordinator at the Department of Mechanical and Product Design Engineering, Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn, Melbourne. He has been awarded for 32 years of significant work at the Swinburne University.
Prof Masood has contributed in the establishment of successful post graduate programs in Advanced Manufacturing at Swinburne since 1993, attracting large number of international students. His contribution in leading Advanced Manufacturing education and research has led to Swinburne being inducted into 2016 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame, winning International Education award by Victorian government. He has also served as the Associate Dean, Research and Chairman, Faculty Research Committee in Faculty of Engineering at Swinburne.
His research interests include Additive Manufacturing, Fused Deposition Modelling, Selective Laser Melting, Cold Spray additive, and other manufacturing processes.
Prof Masood has supervised to completion 40 Ph.Ds and Masters by research students, and over 200 Masters by coursework projects mainly in Advanced Manufacturing and Additive Manufacturing areas at Swinburne up until 2020.
He completed BSc Engineering (Hons) from AMU before joining Masters at the University of New Brunswick, Canada and PhD at the University of Queensland.
