AMU Associate Prof to introduce new families of numbers and polynomials

Aligarh: For centuries mathematicians were trying to solve problems by adding new values to the usual numbers. Now, Dr Nabiullah Khan (Associate Professor, Department of Applied Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University—AMU) is ready to tinker the old ways as he will introduce some new families of numbers and polynomials.

He will improve the existing work in a project titled, ‘Study of generating functions of new families of special polynomials by means of innovative technique and establish their properties’, which has been awarded to him for a period of three years by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India (GoI) under the Mathematical Research Impact Centric Support (MATRICES).

“The work of introducing new numbers and polynomials will include their generating functions, interesting properties and connection with other polynomials and numbers of the Bernoulli, Euler, Genocchi, Apostol-Bernoulli, Apostol-Euler and Apostol-Genocchi polynomials in one or more variables,” said Dr Khan.

He added, “In this project, I will also unify and generalize the theory of generating functions given by various researchers for the multivariable new families of special polynomials.”

Dr Khan’s research interest includes applicable analysis and special functions such as generating functions and integral transform. He has over 55 publications of research papers in journals of international and national repute to his credit. He was conferred with the prestigious ‘ISCA Award’ by Indian Science Congress Association.

Dr Khan is associated with various mathematical societies and serves as a referee and reviewer of various national and international research journals. He has travelled to England, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other countries to deliver special lectures and paper presentations.
