Aligarh : Prof M U Rabbani, Chairman, Department of Cardiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and President, UP Chapter of Cardiology Society of India lucidly explained the success of complex cardiology procedures at JNMC.

He was presenting a detailed analysis of coronary angioplasty and pacemaker data of JNMC to delegates in the ‘Coronary and Structural Intervention Council Meet of the UP Chapter of Cardiology Society held at Lucknow recently.

Prof M U Rabbani gave details of procedures at JNMC ranging from placing catheters to releasing narrowed arteries to medications and lifestyle changes advised by doctors that are immensely helping people with heart conditions.

After inaugurating the conference with senior cardiologists from Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) and King George’s Medical University (KGMU), he also discussed structural interventions like Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) involving inserting catheter into blood vessels to fix replacement valves.

TAVI is an emerging technique where aortic valve can be replaced without open heart surgery in a select group of patients, he emphasised.
