AMU Celebrates World Water Day
Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University celebrated the “World Water Day” on 22nd March to create awareness about global water crisis under the theme “Valuing the Water” following proper pandemic guidelines.
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences organised two activities to mark the occasion. A workshop on “Role of Rural Women and Farmers in water conservation” was held. In his address the Dean faculty of Agriculture Prof Mujeebur Rehman Khan sensitized the farmers, rural women, faculty members and non-teaching staff members to minimize the wastage of water. He said “without a comprehensive understanding of water’s true, multidimensional value, we will be unable to safeguard this critical resource for the benefit of everyone”.
An online essay writing competition was also held in which around 25 undergraduate and Postgraduate students from the faculty of Agricultural Sciences participated.

In another online programme organised by National Service Scheme, large number of student volunteers, programme officers and office staff of the NSS participated in the event. Dr Arshad Husain, Programme Coordinator, NSS explained the importance of water conservation with the need to adopt techniques like Rainwater harvesting to replenish ground water table.
