AMU conducts extensive night checking of hostels, Non-students ousted

ALIGARH : The proctorial department of the Aligarh Muslim University carried out extensive night checking of its residential halls and hostels, especially the V.M. Hall and Sulaiman Hall, and evacuated the non-students illegally residing in hostels.

Earlier, a meeting of the Proctor, Dean Students’ Welfare, Registrar, Provosts of halls, and other officials was called by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Gulrez and a clear order was issued that no non-student will be allowed to stay in university hostels and all Provosts will regularly inspect their respective hostels in this regard. He said that the University is committed to the safeguarding of interests of its students and their security.

AMU Registrar, Mr Mohammad Imran visited the central library canteen in the morning and interacted with the students urging them to immediately contact their Provosts or higher officials if they encounter any problem, and concentrate on their studies. He said university officials are always available for the welfare of the students.

The proctorial team also carried out intensive checking of vehicles parked inside various hostels and vehicles, whose records were incomplete, were seized.

In the evening, a review meeting was again held by the Vice Chancellor and the reports by the provosts were reviewed. The Vice-Chancellor urged the provosts to ensure the presence of a resident warden in their halls and make arrangements to communicate with the students on regular basis.

He said that semester examinations are on in the university and students should immediately contact officials if they have any problem, so that they are solved in time.
