AMU: Coordinator appointed for new Centre for Emergency Medicine

 

Aligarh, July 14: Prof Mohammad Shameem has been appointed as the Coordinator of the newly established Centre for Emergency Medicine at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

He will head the new Centre comprising dedicated physicians, surgeons, orthopaedics, respiratory and chest experts, anesthesiologists, nurses, emergency medical technicians, ECG technicians, dressers and other healthcare professionals concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention.

Prof Shameem has worked in various capacities including important services as Principal Investigator of ‘COVAXIN Vaccine Trial’ and ‘National Covid 19 Registry’ during the pandemic.

He has also been the Principal Investigator of ‘Mucormycosis-A Case Control Study’ and ‘Recovery Trial-ICMR-OXFORD’ trial among other enterprises ‘of note’.

Prof Shameem was the Chairman, Department of TB and Respiratory Diseases until recently.

He has been working as a faculty member and consultant in the Department of TB and Respiratory Diseases since 2005 and was subsequently promoted to the position of a professor in 2016.

Prof Shameem specializes in COPD, Asthma, and interventional pulmonology and has published over 97 papers in peer reviewed journals.
