AMU departments, schools organize programmes under voters’ awareness campaign

 

ALIGARH  : Various departments of studies, schools and offices organized programmes under the Voters’ Awareness Campaign, “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye (my first vote for the country)”, launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to encourage the first-time voters to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

At the Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the Chairperson, Prof. Rais Ahmad highlighted the importance of casting a vote in shaping the destiny of the country. He also administered a pledge to the students and faculty members urging them to cast their vote without fear and inducement.

Prof R.K. Tewari, Principal, Dr Z.A. Dental College, administered a pledge to the faculty members and students that they will cast their vote without any fear or encumbrances.

At the Department of Computer Science, the Chairperson, Prof. Arman Rasool Faridi urged the students and teachers to use their right to vote with determination and strengthen the democratic set up of the country. He also administered the pledge.

Prof. Afzal Haroon, Chairperson, Department of Forensic Medicine, J.N. Medical College, highlighted the importance of the campaign in creating awareness among masses regarding use of their voting right with no fear or greed, as this will only help strengthen the very foundations of democracy in the country.

The faculty members and students at the Department of Economics, under the leadership of Prof. S.M. Jawed Akhtar, Chairman, took a pledge to cast their votes fearlessly to choose the government of their choice and thus strengthen the world’s largest democracy.

The Principal, Raja Mahinder Partap Singh AMU City School, Mr Syed Tanveer Nabi led an awareness rally of students and teachers, emphasizing the importance of voting. The rally, starting from the school campus, passed through the exhibition ground and Tehseel area and concluded at the school, with a large number of students participating, holding placards, and raising banners.

Mr Nabi stated that the purpose of the really was to create enthusiasm in students to participate in the elections and spread awareness among the people for casting their votes. The Vice Principal Dr. Mohammad Faiyazuddin highlighted the importance of exercising the right to vote to safeguard the unity and security of the country.

The AMU City Girls’ High School organized various programmes to create awareness among the students and its staff regarding “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye”.

The Principal, Dr. Md. Alamgir discussed the meaning and importance of casting a vote in a democratic set up, adding that it is the duty of an individual to participate in the lection process by using their right to vote without any fear and inveiglement.

Awareness posters were displayed on this occasion and the students and staff participated in an online pledge campaign launched on a Government of India portal.

At the Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged, a one week campaign, “Mera Pehla Vote Desh ke Liye”, included a pledge taking ceremony by the Principal, teachers and students, a talk and screening of a voters’ awareness film.

A Selfie point was also created to encourage students to take selfies and post it on government’s portal. Besides this, self-composed poems were recited by the students on the theme, “Mera Pehla Vote Desh ke Liye”.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) organized a voter awareness programme at the Faculty of Commerce, to create awareness about exercising right to franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The Programme Coordinator, NSS, Dr. Arshad Husain, the programme officers Mr Syed Mohd Talha, Mr Mohd. Naeem and Dr Jahangir Chauhan, along with Prof Mohd Asif Khan, Chairman, Department of Commerce and Prof Nawab Ali Khan, participated in the pledge taking ceremony.

The faculty members and students at the Department of Linguistics took a pledge to use their voting right and strengthen the democratic set up of the country.

Dr. Sabahuddin Ahmad emphasized the power of using a vote to form a government and urged the students to help spread awareness among people use their right to vote freely.

Dr. Pallav Vishnu stressed the need for promoting civic engagement and the importance of voting for the betterment of the nation.
