AMU Dept of Physics mourn Prof Muhammad Irfan’s demise in condolence meeting

 

Aligarh: The faculty members of the Department of Physics, deeply mourned the sad demise of Professor Muhammad Irfan, former Chairman, Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The faculty members expressed a deep sense of sorrow and sympathy to the bereaved family of the deceased.

“At this moment of sorrow and grief, we share the pain of all members of Prof Irfan’s family and pray to Almighty to give them strength and courage to bear this loss,” stated Dr B P Singh, Chairman, Department of Physics in the condolence resolution released during the meeting.

Prof Irfan served as the Controller of Examinations from 2007 to 2009. He also played an important role in the development of the department of Physics as its chairman during November 2004-2007. He led the team of physicists under the CERN Project as its coordinator and significantly contributed as principal investigator in the internationally acclaimed research pertaining to ‘A Large Hadron Collider Experiment (ALICE).’

Prof Irfan was also elected as Secretary, AMU Teachers’ Association and he was very popular among his students and colleagues who remember him for straight forwardness and friendly nature.

He is survived by wife, daughter and two sons.
