AMU doctor talks on Sleep Physiology

 

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) faculty member from the Department of Physiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Dr Shah Mohammad Abbas Waseem gave a rundown on sleep physiology and how sleep patterns change over an individual’s life span.

He was delivering a talk on ‘Sleep Physiology, Patho-physiology and Epidemiology’ in the national ‘Quality Sleep, Sound Mind Happy World’ webinar of National Health Authority (NHA), Government of India.

Dr Shah delineated neuro-physiological concepts of sleep, types of sleep, disorders of sleep and recent advances.

He explained the roles of exercise and mind body relaxation techniques and role of sleep for various biological functions.

Dr Anwar Hasan Siddiqui (Department of Physiology) and Dr Jitendra Kumar (Department of Psychiatry) moderated the webinar, while Dr Sadia Islam (Department of ENT) moderated the panel discussion.
