AMU Faculty Appointed as Vice Chairman State task force National tuberculosis elimination program
Aligarh : In a significant stride towards achieving the ambitious goal of eliminating tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, the Department of Respiratory Medicine at JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University , celebrates the appointment of Prof. Mohammad Shameem as the Vice Chairman of the State Task Force for the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP). The prestigious announcement was made during the 46th State Task Force NTEP meeting held at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow on December 21.
Prof. Mohammad Shameem, currently serving as the Chairman of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at AMU, earned this recognition due to his contributions in the field of Tuberculosis. Under his leadership, the department has achieved the distinction of being ranked number one in the notification of Tuberculosis cases among 67 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. This appointment underscores the dedication and excellence displayed by Prof. Shameem, reflecting the commitment of AMU’s faculty to the nationwide effort to eliminate TB.
The State Task Force plays a pivotal role in coordinating efforts to combat TB at the state level, and Prof. Shameem’s appointment is expected to bring valuable expertise and leadership to accelerate progress towards the NTEP’s goal of eliminating tuberculosis from the country by 2025.
