AMU faculty conferred with Dr. K.C. Mehta Memorial Award
Aligarh: At the XVI Agricultural Science Congress held in Kochi from October 11 to 13, Prof. Mujeebur Rahman Khan, Chairman of the Department of Plant Protection at Aligarh Muslim University, received Dr. K.C. Mehta Memorial Award. The award was presented by Shri. Parshottam Rupala,Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, during the inaugural session.
The 16th Agricultural Science Congress, focusing on the theme “Transformation of Agri-Food Systems for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals,” aimed to address the growing challenges in the agricultural sector.
Prof. Mujeebur Rahman Khan’s extensive research in developing sustainable management strategies, particularly in biocontrol and integrated pest management for safeguarding the crops earned him the recognition in Plant Protection. His work also encompassed the impact of environmental contamination and climate change on plant pathogens, as well as advancements in nanobiotechnology in plant protection.
In addition to his research contributions, Prof Khan has around 300 research publications, review articles, patents, and books. His work includes commercialization of a cost-effective technology for the production of microbial biopesticides effective against soil-borne fungal and nematode diseases in various crops.
He played an important role in establishing the Agriculture Education Centre at AMU and his contributions to sustainable agriculture have made him a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
