AMU Faculty conferred with Prof WU Malik Memorial Award
Aligarh : Prof Sartaj Tabassum, Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University was conferred with “Prof W U Malik Memorial Award-2022” for being an eminent researcher in the field of Chemistry at the XXXI Annual Conference of the Indian Council of Chemists (ICC) held at Agra. Mr Yogendra Upadhyaya, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh, Prof Anshu Rani, Vice-Chancellor of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, and Prof GC Saxena, President of ICC gave the citation, award and cash prize to Prof Tabassum on the occasion.
Prof Sartaj Tabassum has been working on metal-based cancer drugs, He has completed several research projects awarded by CSIR, UGC, DBT Govt. of India and published 166 papers, guided 17 Ph.D and has 3 patents on potential anti-tumour drugs.
Prof Tabassum also delivered an award lecture on “Metal-based potent anticancer therapeutic drug candidates: Structure elucidation, validation of cytotoxic response against chemo-resistant cancers”.
The two students of his research groups, Dr Huzaifa Yasir Khan and Miss Suffora Akhter, Department of Chemistry, also received the Young Scientist award -2022 for best research, oral and poster presentation by ICC on the occasion.
