AMU faculty declared President-elect, AIDAA

 

ALIGARH  : Prof S Moied Ahmed, Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, J.N. Medical College, Muslim University has been declared as the President Elect, All India Difficult Airway Association (AIDAA), at the annual general body meeting of the organization held during the National Airway Conference (NAC23), organized at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), from September 8-10, 2023.

Prof Ahmed conducted a Difficult Airway Management workshop on Emergency Cricothyroidotomy as the course director, which comprised two sessions based on videos and didactic lectures on basics and advanced Airway management and hands-on training on four different techniques of cricothyroidotomy and USG guided assessment of cricothyroid membrane.

Dr Moied projected video recording of 4 different techniques of Emergency Crico performed on his self-designed Larynx model. He said it is a life-saving technique performed during Complete Ventilation Failure, when the patient’s airway cannot be intubated, ventilated or maintained, subsequently making the patients hypoxic and prone to cardiac arrest. He said it is essential for all anaesthesilogists to learn this technique whenever they get an opportunity. He trained 60 delegates with the help of Dr Nadeem Raza, Dr Divya Jain, Dr Muazzam Hasan, Dr Aftab Husain, all alumni of JNMC, AMU.

He demonstrated different techniques of Percutaneous Tracheostomy (PCT), which he champions as a pioneer of performing Surgical Tracheostomy. He also delivered a lecture on “Extubation in critically ill patients” during the conference.
