AMU faculty delivers a lecture on language and NEP 2020

Aligarh: “Mother tongue plays a very powerful impact on the development of an individual and a child’s first comprehension of the world around him and the learning of concepts and skills starts with the language that is first taught to him”, said Dr Taher H Pathan, Incharge, Marathi Section, Department of Modern Indian language, Aligarh Muslim University while delivering an online lecture at a national webinar organized by the Department of Marathi, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai.

Speaking on “New Education Policy-2020 and Language”, Dr Pathan said that the use of mother language in education has caught everyone’s attention due to the fact that mother tongue is compulsory up to class fifth and regional language up to class eight, as per as the New Education Policy 2020. The three-language policy has been retained and different languages of India have been given equal importance in the national policy.
