Aligarh: “The purpose of the education system is to produce engaged, productive and contributing citizens for building an equitable, inclusive and plural society as envisaged by our Constitution,” said Bodhendra Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
He was delivering an on online lecture on ‘Ethics and NEP-2020: An Insight for the Value Education’ in the webinar on ‘New Education Policy-2020’ organized by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra and the Department of Chemistry, Shri Tikaram Kanya Maha Vidhyalaya, Aligarh.
He delineated theories of ethics, essential in ethical decision making and value inculcation among students.
Kumar chalked out challenges for the Government, while presenting action plans for value inculcation for students and teachers. He discussed fundamental shifts required for moral teaching.
He stressed inclusion of meditation, with skill development programs through compulsory vocational courses for enhancing sharpness and concentration power.
