AMU faculty delivers online lecture

Aligarh: “As gateways to knowledge and culture, libraries play a fundamental role in society. The resources and services they offer create opportunities for learning, support literacy and education, and help shape the new ideas and perspectives that are central to a creative and innovative society,” said Prof Naushad Ali P M, Department of Library and Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University.

He was speaking as a Guest of Honour in the inaugural session of one-week, ‘Online Short Term Course in Library and Information Science’ organized by M S University Tirunelveli and Madras Library Association (MALA).

Prof Naushad pointed out that libraries across the country have a big role in making India ‘Self-Reliant.’

He added that libraries need to strengthen their community information service, which will help individuals and societies in problem solving, participation in startup programmes, and creating awareness on government policies and financial schemes.

“These services will provide ‘Right Information’ to those who do not have access to information resources,” said Prof Naushad adding that it is the responsibility of libraries to provide ‘Right Information’ for transforming the country into ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self Reliant India).’
