AMU faculty delivers web talk
Aligarh: Dr Mohd Tariq, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, ZH College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) stressed on significantly increasing the share of solar energy in India’s energy mix for realising the opportunity for enhancing India’s energy security and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
He was delivering a web talk on ‘Design of PV Systems, Grid Interface, Standards and Solar Policies’ organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Government Engineering College, Thrissur, Kerala.
Dr Tariq discussed key incentive mechanisms used by policy makers and regulators in deriving the business model design for the solar rooftop PV system in the five-day short term training programme for faculty and research scholars which included adept experts from USA, Australia and IIT Roorkee.
He shed light on the different types of solar PV modules available in the market along with standards and safety class, solar energy generation estimation in different conditions and factors affecting the performance of solar PV modules.
Dr Tariq delineated the techniques used for the grid-connected rooftop solar PV system including different power electronics inverters being used in the system along with safety requirements, applicable standards and regulations for grid connectivity.
