AMU Faculty Engages with University of Kashmir on Environmental and Economic Issues
Aligarh : Dr. Shirin Rais, from the Department of Economics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), recently delivered two lectures and presented a research paper at the University of Kashmir, Srinagar.
On June 28, Dr. Rais addressed the Department of Environmental Sciences at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Her lecture, titled “Environmental Economics,” explored the multidisciplinary nature of the field and its growing significance due to environmental degradation and global warming.
On July 1, Dr. Rais delivered another lecture on “Climate Change Nurturing Green Approach” to the Department of Geography and Disaster Management. Her lecture covered topics such as green businesses, investments, innovation, and the impacts of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on various economies.
Additionally, Dr. Rais presented a research paper, co-authored with Prof. Mohammad Asif, at the International Conference on “Monitoring Biodiversity for Action (ICMBA-2024)” held from June 25-27. The paper examined the impact of climate change on health across different regions of India, with a particular focus on the northern region. The study also highlighted the vulnerability of unskilled and semi-skilled laborers to climate-related health issues.
