AMU faculty joins as Adjunct Professor in Iran University

Aligarh: Professor Ali Mohammad Naqvi, Director, ‘Dara Shikoh for Interfaith Understanding’ and ‘Sir Syed Academy’ in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been appointed as an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Knowledge and Islamic Thought, University of Tehran for a period of three years.

Prof Naqvi’s new role in the faculty panel of the Iranian university has been described as a step to further strengthen the existing cordial cultural and academic relations between India and Iran by Dr Mohd Ali Rabbani (Cultural Counselor, Embassy of The Islamic Republic of Iran, New Delhi).

“The appointment is significant to further nurture India-Iran relations. Iranian educational institutions can hugely benefit from Indian academicians through their expertise in evidence-based research in advancing education and the dissemination of this research through publication and translation, teaching, policy recommendations, and strategic engagements,” said Prof Mahmoud Nili Amadabadi (President, University of Tehran).

He added that it is hoped that this collaboration will manifest in enhancement of teaching and research and promotion of Faculty of Knowledge and Islamic Thought.

Delivering the AMU centenary celebrations speech in December 2020, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi remarked that the research done in AMU on Urdu, Arabic, and Persian languages and Islamic literature, gives new energy to India’s cultural relations with the entire Islamic world.
