AMU faculty member speaks on Climate Change
Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) faculty member from the Department of Community Medicine, J N Medical College (JNMC) and President of the University Eco-Club, Dr Ali Jafar Abedi called for initiatives to combat climate change and to ensure a sustainable future.
He was delivering the keynote address on ‘Climate Change Awareness’ in a webinar—which was a part of the ‘Smart Cities: Smart Urbanization’ event of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The webinar was jointly organised by the University Eco-Club and Aligarh Smart City project.
“Awareness on the phenomenon of Climate Change will help people to understand and tackle the consequences of global warming and encourage them to change behaviours in the backdrop of what is already a global emergency”, said Dr Abedi.
He discussed the importance of using safe and non-toxic building supplies, conserving energy and water and recycling.
Aligarh Municipal Commissioner and CEO of Aligarh Smart City, Mr Gaurang Rathi and over 70 faculty members and students attended the webinar.
