AMU Flower Show concludes with prize distribution

 

Aligarh : Captivating spread of blooms, blossoms and various cut flowers and roses by the Vice Chancellor (VC) Lodge team not only added luster to the line-up at the Annual Flower Show-2022 of the Department of Land and Gardens, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), but also bagged five trophies.

The VC Lodge team emerged as the star runners by winning the ‘H P Bhaiyaji Running Cup for the Best Garden of the University between 1000 Sqm to 1500 Sqm’, ‘University Running Cup for the Best University Garden between 500 Sqm to 1000 Sqm’, ‘Smt. Rekha Krishna Memorial Running Cup for the Best Garden of the University below 250 Sqm’, ‘Mr Zafar Alam Running Cup for the Best Exhibit in Class D’ and ‘Syed Viqar Ahmad Running Cup for the Best Exhibit in Class F1-F6’.

At close quarters to V C Lodge’s triumph, the Gulistan-e-Syed team won the ‘Begum Sarwatun Nisa Cup for the Best Lawn—Large Size’, ‘University Running Cup for the Best Garden of the University between 1500 Sqm to 2000 Sqm’ and ‘Anand Chaturvedi Memorial Running Cup for the Best Exhibit in Class C’.

Rajiv Gandhi Diabetic Centre lifted the ‘University Running Cup for the Best University Garden between 250 Sqm to 500 Sqm’, Ahmad Moosa Saad Siddiqui claimed ‘Dr M K Gupta and Smt. Sudha Gupta Running Trophy for the Best Private Garden’, Commandant RAF 104 team were declared winners of ‘University Running Cup for the Best Institutional Garden’, Z H College of Engineering and Technology bagged ‘University Running Cup for the Best Exhibit of the Show’, ‘V G Nursery picked ‘Mr M Habib Running Cup for the Best Exhibit in Class B’, Registrar Lodge won ‘Mr Nafisul Hasan Running Cup for the Best Rose in Class C-4’ and I/C Botanical Garden took ‘Prof Suhail Ahmad Memorial Running Cup for Different Cacti (Grown in pots).

“Overall 221 prizes including 63 first prizes, 77 second prizes and 87 consolation prizes were given to participants in different categories by the Chief Guest, Gaurav Dayal (IAS Officer, Aligarh Commissioner), Kamlesh Kumar (RAF Deputy Commandant), Prof Mujahid Beg (Dean Students’ Welfare), Prof Mohd Wasim Ali (Proctor), Prof M U Rabbani (Chairman, Department of Cardiology), Prof Anjum Parvez (Chairman, Department of Medicine), Prof Zamirullah Khan (Chairman, Department of Physical Education), Prof Subuhi Khan (Provost, Begum Azizun Nisa Hall), Dr Salman Khaleel (Provost, Aftab Hall), Prof Nishat Akhtar (Chairperson, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology), Prof Wazahat Hussain, Prof Irshad Mahmood (Honorary Advisor, Department of Land and Gardens), Prof Mohd Ali Jauhar (Chairman, Department of Urdu), Prof Hashmat Ali Khan (Deputy Proctor), Dr Ali Nawaz Zaidi (Deputy Proctor), Prof Mohammad Athar Ansari (Department of Community Medicine), Prof Mujib Ahmad Ansari (Department of Civil Engineering), Prof Parvez Talib (Department of Business Administration), Dr Ali Jafar Abedi (University Health Officer), Dr Mansoor Alam Siddiqui (Women’s College), Dr M Mohsin Khan (University Polytechnic) and Omar S Peerzada (University PRO)”, said Prof Zaki Anwar Siddiqui (Member-in-Charge, Department of Land and Gardens).

He also delivered the welcome address and conducted the programme.

“The mesmerizing Flower Show at AMU once again drew visitors from across the city and nearby places. Let us all grow more and more flowers and plants and contribute to the cause of the environment”, said the Chief Guest, Gaurav Dayal (Commissioner, Aligarh).
