AMU fraternity mourns the sad demise of Prof Abdul Shakoor

Aligarh : The teachers, students and staff of the Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) condoled the sad demise of Professor Abdul Shakoor, Ex-Chairman, Department of Anaesthesoilogy, J.N. Medical College, AMU, who breathed his last on April 29, at the age of 87. His wife Prof Sifat Afzal, a retired professor of Medicine died during the second wave of Covid-19. Prof Abdul Shakoor was buried in the University graveyard.

Reading the condolence resolution in the condolence meeting, Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine said Prof Shakoor served as the Chairman of the Department from 1993 to 1996. He was a popular figure and always cared for his students.

She conveyed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

Prof Shakoor had no children. Among his closest family members, his elder brother’s daughter Dr. Sami Rafiq is a professor in the Department of English at Aligarh Muslim University.
