AMU Gears Up for Grand Sir Syed Day Celebration
Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is preparing to commemorate Sir Syed Day to honor the birth anniversary of its founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan with traditional festivities on October 17. This announcement came during a meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gulrez to finalize the preparations for this prestigious occasion.
Prof. Gulrez emphasized the university’s commitment to celebrating Sir Syed Day in keeping with its customs and traditions. “We are dedicated to ensuring that Sir Syed Day is observed on a grand scale, preserving the timeless customs that have come to define this celebration,” he stated.
After discussions, it was decided to hold the main event at the picturesque Gulistan-e-Syed, with live webcasting to ensure wider accessibility for participants and well-wishers. A notable feature of the celebration will be the exhibition at Sir Syed House, showcasing an array of Sir Syed’s writings, books, portraits, personal belongings, and calligraphy.
Several iconic university landmarks, including Sir Syed House and the Centenary Gate, will be illuminated. Additionally, a traditional dinner will be organized for students in their respective Halls of Residence, fostering a sense of community and togetherness among the university’s scholars.
The meeting, attended by university officials and faculty members, also featured discussions led by the registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS), and Finance officer, Prof. Mohsin Khan.
