AMU grieves Prof Farhat Ullah Khan

 

Aligarh: Distinguished academician and Emeritus Professor, Dr Farhat Ullah Khan, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday.

“I am at loss of words to express my grief after knowing about Prof Farhat Ullah Khan’s sudden demise. He was an optimal blend of knowledge and language skills. He was a human being par excellence apart from being a reputed academician. I pray to the almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and pray for courage to his family members”, said AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor.

He added that Prof Farhat Ullah’s demise is a personal loss for him.

Prof Mohammad Rizwan Khan (Chairman, Department of English) said that Prof Farhat Ullah will always be remembered as an outstanding teacher and a passionate scholar and as well as for his many contributions and devotion to his students, colleagues and the University.

Prof Farhat Ullah was a polyglot, who wrote in different languages. He was an excellent speaker, who delivered speeches in interesting and pleasing ways with definite and relevant messages ensuring the attention of the audience through effective listening. English Language teaching was his thrust area.

Prof Farhat Ullah represented the cultural life of AMU across the country and abroad.

He had served the university in many capacities such as the Dean Students’ Welfare; Dean, Faculty of Arts and Chairman, Department of English among other positions. Besides AMU, he also taught at universities in the Middle-East and the University of Delhi.
