AMU mourns demise of ex faculty member
Aligarh : Prof Jamil Ahmad Khan, retired faculty member of the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) passed away recently, owing to prolonged illness.
Extending condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased and AMU fraternity, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor said, “Prof Jamil Ahmad Khan served as the chairman of the Zoology Department, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences and Executive Council member. We are deeply saddened by the news of Prof Jamil’s demise. He has contributed a lot to the Faculty of Life Sciences and the University”.
“Prof Jamil’s mentorship and guidance helped his students in their careers, and I send my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to his bereaved family”, said the Vice Chancellor.
Prof Mohammad Afzal (Chairman, Department of Zoology) said “Prof Jamil Ahmad Khan will be sorely missed by generations of students and teachers. It is a huge loss and my thoughts are with his family. His efforts brought the department on extremely sound footing.”
He is survived by two sons and daughter Diba Khan, based in USA.
