AMU mourns demise of Prof Farman Husain

Aligarh: Renowned Islamic scholar and former faculty member of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Professor Syed Farman Husain passed away. He served the university in many capacities such as the Dean, Faculty of Theology and Chairman, Department of Shia Theology.

“As a professor, he was a mentor to a generation of students,” said AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor.

He added: “Prof Farman Husain was a renowned theologian and will be remembered across for his work. He cared deeply for the university, his students and research scholars. His demise is a personal loss for me.”

 

Prof M Saud Alam Qasmi (Dean, Faculty of Theology) said that it is sad to see that Prof Farman Husain has passed away, it is a huge loss and my thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.

 

Prof Farman Husain published papers in peer-reviewed journals, wrote book chapters and edited books. He taught the Ph.D, graduate and post-graduate students.
