AMU mourns demise of Prof Saeed Siddiqi
Aligarh: Distinguish botanist and former faculty member of the Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Professor Saeed Siddiqi died of a brief illness.
“He was an avid supporter of the protection of rich flora. In his death, we lost a life-long educationist of repute and a dedicated botanist”, said AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor.
He added that Prof Saeed’s demise is indeed a great loss for the AMU community and a personal loss for him.
Prof Nafees Ahmad Khan (Chairman, Department of Botany) said, “I am deeply sorry to hear that Prof Saeed has passed away. I would like to extend solace to the deceased’s family and friends. This is a great loss for all of us”.
During his enduring career, Prof Saeed published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, wrote book chapters, and edited books. The graduate, post-graduate and research scholars he taught have worked at reputable positions in India and abroad.
