AMU mourns Prof Mohammad Shabbir’s demise

 

Aligarh: Renowned law educator and superannuated faculty member of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Professor Mohammad Shabbir died after a brief illness. He served the university in many capacities such as the Acting Vice Chancellor; Dean, Faculty of Law and Chairman, Department of Law. He was also the Ambedkar Chair Professor at AMU.

“Prof Shabbir’s contribution to academic life was exemplary. The university fraternity mourns the colossus loss and extends its deepest condolences to Prof Shabbir’s family”, said AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor.

He added that the demise is a personal loss to him.

As a law Professor he authored several books and was a regular contributor to an online legal series. He published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Prof Shabbir was also the Executive Council Member of the Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and as a legal luminary, he has also been associated with the Columbia International College and Islamic University of Malaysia.
