AMU mourns Prof Mohd Yunus Siddiqui’s demise

Aligarh: Senior Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) faculty member and Chairman, Department of Moalejat, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Prof Mohd Yunus Siddiqui passed away at a Delhi Hopital where he was admitted after getting injured in an accident. He was 61-years-old.

Extending condolences, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor said, “We are deeply saddened by the news of Prof Yunus Siddiqui’s demise. He has contributed a lot to the Faculty of Unani Medicine and the University. He will be greatly missed”.

Prof F S Sherani (Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine) said, “Prof Yunus Siddiqui will be sorely missed by generations of students and teachers. It is a huge loss and my thoughts are with his family in this difficult time”.

Prof Yunus Siddiqui successfully completed Government sponsored projects, published papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored books and wrote and edited book chapters.

He has been working as a faculty member at AMU since 1992. Management of infectious and viral diseases in Unani Medicine was his thrust area.
