AMU mourns Professor Rafiqul Zaman Khan

 

Aligarh: Senior faculty member of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Professor Rafiqul Zaman Khan passed away after a brief illness. He recently completed the term as the Chairman, Department of Computer Science.

“Prof Rafiqul Zaman will always be remembered for his caring nature for students. He was as a dedicated teacher and with his demise, the AMU community has lost a great academic, whose contributions were immense”, said AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor.

He further said that Prof Rafiqul Zaman’s demise is a personal loss to him.

Extending condolences, Prof Aasim Zafar (Chairman, Department of Computer Science) said that Prof Rafiqul Zaman was a mentor to countless students and researchers. He will be sorely missed by generations of students and teachers.

Prof Rafiqul Zaman successfully completed Government sponsored projects, published papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored books and wrote and edited book chapters. He was a Member of the Advisory/Editorial Board of a number of International Journals. Parallel and Distributed Computing, Gesture Recognition, Expert Systems, Cloud Computing and IPv6 Security were his thrust areas.

He taught the graduate, post-graduate and research students at AMU.

Prof Rafiqul Zaman also taught at the King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudia Arabia; Ittihad University), UAE; Pune University, Pune and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.
