AMU organized an interactive lecture series programme for faculty members, research scholars

Aligarh: The Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University organized an interactive lecture series programme for faculty members, research scholars and PG students of the department.

Shri PS Gill (Deputy Director General, GSI) and Shri Hemant Kumar (Director and Head of Office, GSI, Ministry of Mines, Government of India) spoke on different topics under the scheme Bhuvisamvad, an initiative of Ministry of Mines, aimed at promoting interaction between geoscientists and students of different universities and colleges.

Addressing on the occasion, Shri PS Gill highlighted various aspects of GSI including establishment, history, recent developments, objectives, ongoing projects and future projects. He urged the faculty members, research scholars and PG students to undergo training programmes of GSI besides doing regular studies.

Shri Hemant Kumar delivered a talk on Himalayan Geology with special emphasis on Himachal Himalaya and Siwaliks. While discussing various geological perspectives, tectonics, potential economic resources, paleo-climate and paleo-environment, he underlined the GSI efforts to determine economic potential zones.

Prof AHM Ahmad (Chairman), Prof Rashid Umar and Prof MEA Mondal welcomed the guest speakers while faculty members and students attended the interactive session and discussed their queries.
