AMU organizes coding event, Hackathon

 

ALIGARH  : The Computer Science Society (CSS), Department of Computer Science, Aligarh Muslim University organized a 24-hour coding event, ‘AMU Hacks 3.0’ (Hackathon), in association with the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), to to promote innovation in IT and propel participants into the future of technology.

Dr. Mohammad Nadeem, Programme Coordinator, said that a total of 398 teams registered for the event from various institutions from across the country, including the IIT Roorkee, VIT Vellore, IIM Ranchi, Graphic Era Dehradoon, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Delhi, Mumbai University, AISSMS Pune, Chandigarh University, etc. The event provided a platform for budding developers to showcase their skills and come up with innovative ideas. The participants were given 24 hours to complete their projects.

He said that in the final round, top ten teams presented their projects in ten minutes followed by a five-minute Question and Answer session with the judges who judges evaluated each project based on creativity, originality, technical difficulty, and potential impact.

The first prize of Rs. 5000 was awarded to the team “Eagle” from Dayanada Sagar College of Engineering, Bengaluru for their project “Fit Metric”. Their solution integrated daily energy tracking, nutrition analysis, disease prediction, organ monitoring, and scan prescriptions.

The runner-up team, “The Wild Card” from Odisha State Open University, Odisha got the place for their project “The DiagnoSys” and was awarded Rs. 3000 as the prize money. DiagnoSys is a web-based medical diagnosis and prediction application, meant to help the doctors in diagnosis without overshadowing their expertise.

Prof Arman Rasool Faridi, Chairman, Department of Computer Science, appreciated the organizers of the event and thanked the judges, Mr. Parwez Usmani, CTO AHA Technocrats, Noida and Dr. Khalid Anwar, Bennett University, New Delhi for their support and contribution. He emphasized the importance of participating in such events as they enhance the overall personality and confidence of the students. He also appreciated organizing team for their efforts.
