AMU professor attends programme on Renewable Energy Applications

 

ALIGARH  : Prof. Mohammad Rihan, Coordinator, Centre for Integrated Green and Renewable Energy, Aligarh Muslim University attended as chief guest the inaugural function of a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning using MATLAB for Renewable Energy Applications” jointly organized by the University of Petroleum Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok.

Prof Rihan highlighted the crucial role of solar energy in addressing the challenge of global warming and the role of electrical engineers in meeting the national goals. He also spoke on the role of digitalization, Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning and other technologies in meeting the research challenges arising out of the changing nature of the power grid.

He shared his experiences in using digital technologies to meet these challenges and discussed the successful integration of solar energy in the distribution network of AMU.

Prof Rihan also attended as a guest of honour the inaugural session of the four week-long “Solar Technology-based Entrepreneurship Development Programme (TEDP)” organized by the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi. The programme was organized in association with the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Prof Rihan said that one of the three sub-themes of the G20 presidency of India is clean energy for a greener future, which is relevant to the national mission and requirements, and in line with the themes of the Education Working Group of G20.
