AMU professor delivers a lecture at BITS Pilani

 

ALIGARH : Prof. Samina Khan, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a talk on “Charting New Culturescape(s): Engaging in, with, through Performing Arts vis a vis NEP-2020”, at an international conference on “Intersections of Knowledge: Exploring Discourses and Beyond in Humanities and Social Sciences”, organized by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.

She traced the history of education in India in the modern sense of the term, strategically looking into the socio-political influence of colonizers and its consequences.

She highlighted the importance of the triad – ‘Context, Text, and Consequences’ vis-à-vis NEP 2020 and deliberated upon the ‘space’ given to ‘Performing Arts’ in pre and post-independence period within the classrooms. Identifying the need for ‘Revision with a Vision’ and to ruffle with ‘creative energies’ of both literature and performing arts as a central agential motif, Prof Samina appealed to scholars, students and academics to evolve a mechanism to recognize the wealth of varied ‘expressive heritage of the country.’
